Natural Health Magazine Beauty Awards 2013 – Well Done Our Brands!
For those of you who don’t know, Natural Health magazine (which we’ve read avidly for years) have for the last 7 years published beauty awards, bestowing accolades on those products and brands which they think represent the best in natural and organic beauty.
We’re happy to say that quite a few of the brands and products we stock have featured in the awards this year so we’re pleased to know we’re good at picking winners!
The first winner is evolve, who won best value range for the second year running. You certainly get a lot for your money with evolve, they are organic (Ecocert certified), made with 99%+ naturally derived ingredients (fairly traded in some cases), majority certified by the Vegan Society and they’re made here in good old blighty. As if that wasn’t enough, even their gorgeous packaging is made from 100% recycled bottles which can of course be recycled again. They’re beautiful and effective products from head to toe and with prices starting at £9.99, your bank balance can feel good about you using them too!
Green People got a ‘highly commended’ in the Natural Range, Ethical Range and Readers Choice categories. Green People were one of the first brands I found when I started on my natural beauty journey many years ago (not saying how many!) and their range of products has continued to grow. Like a great many brands in the natural beauty arena, Green People was born of the need to find a solution to a personal skin problem (in this case childhood eczema and severe allergies). They have been at the forefront of the natural and organic beauty movement for over 15 years and collected plenty of accolades along the way. Though we only stock a selection of their product range, Green People continues to prove itself to be a popular and trusted brand.
Scooping winner in the Ethical Range and Cellulite Zappers categories was Weleda. Way to go! Though from our perspective we wished they’d be better at identifying which ingredients are organic or fairtrade so that we could categorize them fully in our ethics labeling, we applaud the commitment Weleda have to producing effective products whilst still respecting the earth and the environments from which the ingredients are sourced.
Trilogy were awarded highly commended in the Ethical Range and their multi award winning Rosehip Oil gained a highly commended in the Face Oil category too. Famous for introducing us to the wonders of organic Rosehip Oil, Trilogy make all their products with care and compassion for the planet and the people on it. Recently awarded the NATRUE natural cosmetics certification, Trilogy make wonderful and effective natural skin and haircare products.
Now onto the makeup…..
Madara got a highly commended in the Tinted Moisturiser Category for their Moon Flower Tinting Fluid. We think this is an exceptional product and to us it’s definitely the winner! Ecocert certified organic, suitable for Vegans and with a fresh fragrance a little like new mown grass, we love it. Oh, and it’s pretty good at giving you skin a lovely even tone with a healthy glow too!!
A highly commended in the Foundation category was awarded to alva for their Coleur Organic Fluid Foundation. We’ve only recently introduced this particular alva product to our range and it’s already proving popular. With patented beta glucans which help make the foundation suitable for sensitive skins as well as having anti aging properties, it’s also Ecocert certified organic and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It’s great for oily skins as it has a matt finish and two of the three shades have been colour matched to their fabulous talc free baked powders – if you like to use a powder too.
Last, but by no means least is Inika, who got winner in the Eyeliner category with their Coco Eyeliner Pencil and also a highly commended in the Mascara category. What can we say? Inika were our first choice when deciding which make up brands to offer you, a glorious combination of luxury and natural. We love their ethics, the quality of their products and their elegant packaging. They are Vegan Society certified and where a product can be, it is also certified organic.
In the words of young Mr Grace (for those of you old enough to have watched ‘Are You Being Served’) you’ve all done very well!
